Hello! My name is Todd Bardin, and I am a certified Bob Ross Instructor. My journey into painting began during COVID. I grew up in a musical family and my artistic expression has always been through music. But I’ve always had an appreciation for the visual arts. One day, while surfing through the television channels, I came upon the Bob Ross Channel. I immediately recognized Bob and remember watching him when I was younger. The more I watched him, the more convinced I was that I could paint like him. His soothing voice and encouragement gave me the courage to try. So, I got some paints and some canvases and watched him on YouTube. And that’s how I got started painting. Along the way, I found the Bob Ross Workshop in New Smyrna Beach which Bob started over 30 years ago. The workshop still teaches the Bob Ross method, and they offer certification for those who want to teach. So, after a lot of practice and many classes, I received my certification in 2024.

I like the contemplative aspect of painting. It allows you to clear your mind and focus on one thing. I find it very relaxing and centering. The Bob Ross wet-on-wet technique allows oil paint to mix right on the canvas. So beautiful, unexpected things happen. Bob famously said, “We don’t make mistakes we have happy accidents.” I also like that there is no drawing or tracing in this method. You create right on the canvas itself. So, we imagine a scene inspired in nature and we put our inspiration on canvas. It is creative and fun and you can accomplish a painting in one sitting.
